Last week, Tea Story had the privilege of hosting a bespoke tea ceremony for the UK team of Braze – a global leader in cloud-based AI and customer engagement, valued at over £10 billion.
This was not just another corporate event. It was a gathering of some of the brightest minds in technology: alumni of the world’s top universities, based in London, whose work sits at the cutting edge of AI and data science. For us, it was an opportunity to bring the quiet, grounding rituals of tea into the fast-paced world of tech innovation.
The Experience: Learning, Doing, Immersing
We designed an exclusive, hands-on session that went far beyond a simple tasting. The Braze team didn’t just drink tea – they learned to make it, feel it, and understand it.
The afternoon unfolded in two parts:
Tea Appreciation & Knowledge: We guided the team through the origins, processing, and flavour profiles of several single-origin, EU-organic teas – from the delicate notes of Silver Needle white tea to the complex minerality of a high-mountain oolong.
DIY Tea Master Experience: Then came the moment to step behind the tea tray. Each participant took on the role of tea master, practising the precise art of brewing – controlling water temperature, steeping times, and pouring techniques to unlock the full character of each leaf.
The room fell into a focused, almost meditative silence – a rare pause in the lives of people usually immersed in code, algorithms, and data streams. And then came the smiles, the questions, the comparisons of flavours, and the quiet satisfaction of a perfectly brewed cup made with one’s own hands.
