When we decided to bring Wuyi Rock Tea into the Tea Story collection, we knew it would be a journey marked by both hardship and romance.
Today, we invite you to step away from the clamour of the city and follow us deep into the heart of Fujian’s Wuyi Mountains, to see what lies behind the rich yan yun—the distinctive rocky charm—you taste in your cup.

Harvesting the Spirit of ‘Rock Rhyme’
True Wuyi Rock Tea grows in the crags, gullies, and cliffs of the mountains. Here, the striking Danxia landforms rise steep and jagged, with tea gardens scattered across narrow valleys and precipitous rock faces. In this terrain, modern machinery has no place; every harvest relies solely on human hands.
Organic: Our Pledge to the Earth
On this land—recognised as both a UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage site—we hold the deepest respect. The estates we work with are firmly committed to organic cultivation.
This means:
No herbicides: every weed is removed by hand.
No chemical pesticides: pests are managed through natural methods, such as physical traps and the introduction of their natural predators.
No chemical fertilisers: nutrients come from fermented animal manure and other natural organic matter.

This path is costly, and the yields are modest. Yet we embrace it willingly. For what we see is not only this year’s harvest, but a future in which, ten or even a hundred years from now, this land will still be alive, fertile, and capable of gifting us tea in its truest form. The EU Organic Certification is the most authoritative recognition of this commitment.
When you taste Tea Story’s Wuyi Rock Tea, you savour not only its complex fragrance and lingering sweetness, but also the spirit of the mountains, the labour of the tea pickers, and our enduring promise to honour and protect nature.

Thank you for sharing this journey into the heart of Wuyi organic tea. With your next cup, may you taste tea as it was meant to be.
With respect and sincerity,
The Tea Story Team
