It started as a mere leaf, initially encountered by humans as a detoxifying remedy. Thousands of years ago, it transformed into a delightful beverage through the hands of the Chinese. It entered the realm of Tang Dynasty poets, became the lifeblood of nomadic tribes, found its place in the bags of monks, journeyed eastward with Buddhism to Japan, and there, ascended to a way of life. It boarded the ships of the Age of Discovery, alongside porcelain and silk, satisfying Europe's imagination of the ancient Orient. It enriched the most refined and elegant etiquette of British culture, taking root across the globe.
Tea has traversed a long journey, experiencing cycles of withering, rebirth, and blossoming. Perhaps its purpose is to remind hurried travelers that even in the imperfect journey of life, perfection can be felt, even if only for a moment—a moment with a cup of tea.
"Even if only for a moment—a moment with a cup of tea."
Let's take a pause between sips, between lifting and placing the cup, and allow our thoughts to slow down within the space of a cup of tea.
