An Immersive Journey in a London Tea Space

Last week, a private workshop exclusive to Tea Story × My Trove Jewels was held in London, inviting participants to fully surrender their attention to the tea ceremony and handicraft before them. It was an event designed to provide "deep rest" for the mind, achieved through tea and handcrafting.

More Than Just a Cup of Tea: London Aesthetics Await

Stillness with Tea. Under the guidance of a tea master, starting from warming the cups and cleansing the utensils, to selecting the tea, appreciating its aroma, and finally tasting it, everyone personally brewed Tea Story's EU Organic certified teas. In this slowed-down process, the focus required in academic research was transformed into an awareness of subtle sensory experiences.

Craftsmanship and Beauty. The founder of My Trove Jewels led everyone into a jewellery-making session. Participants chose pearls or gemstones and, under professional guidance, set them by hand to create a one-of-a-kind piece of jewellery. The tactile sensation in the fingertips and the focus required for creation allowed the mind to unwind through a different form of creative labour.

Finding a Common Language Between Tea Fragrance and Craftsmanship

The tea ceremony's concept of "ichi-go ichi-e" (treasuring each encounter as a once-in-a-lifetime meeting) and the "uniqueness" inherent in handcrafted items together embody a respect for the present moment and personal experience.

A linguistics professor who participated shared: "This was fascinating. My work involves studying systems of linguistic symbols, yet today, the taste of the tea, the feel of the objects, and the process of creation constituted an entirely new, non-verbal 'grammar of communication.' It felt direct and warm."
